چکیده

abstract This paper describes a novel approach to nd a tighter bound of the transformation of the Min-Max problems into the one of Least-Square Estimation. It is well known that the above transformation of one problem to the other can lead to the proof that their target functions linearly bound each other. However, this linear bound is not a tight one. In this paper, we prove that if we transform the Min-Max problem into two Least-Square Estimation problems, where one minimizes the Root-Mean-Square (RMS) of the original function and the other one minimizes the RMS of the diierence between the original function and an arbitrary constant, one can obtain a tighter bound between their target functions. The tighter bound given by this novel approach depends on the outcome of the second Least-Square Estimation problem, so there is a great incentive to choose the arbitrary constant which gives the smallest RMS of the second Least-Square Estimation problem. For a problem with a large number of variables, this novel tighter bound can be two to three order tighter than the old one.

RESOLUTION OF NONLINEAR OPTIMIZATION PROBLEMS SUBJECT TO BIPOLAR MAX-MIN FUZZY RELATION EQUATION CONSTRAINTS USING GENETIC ALGORITHM

This paper studies the nonlinear optimization problems subject to bipolar max-min fuzzy relation equation constraints. The feasible solution set of the problems is non-convex, in a general case. Therefore, conventional nonlinear optimization methods cannot be ideal for resolution of such problems. Hence, a Genetic Algorithm (GA) is proposed to find their optimal solution. This algorithm uses th...

طراحی بهینه ابعاد شبکه جمع‌آوری فاضلاب با استفاده از الگوریتم بهینه‌سازی جامعه مورچگان: مقایسه عملکرد چهار الگوریتم

In this paper, the features of Ant Colony Optimization Algorithm (ACOA) are used to find optimal size for sewer network. Two different formulations are proposed. In the first formulation, pipes diameters and in the second formulation, nodal elevations of sewer network are taken as decision variables of the problem. In order to evaluate the performance of different ACOAs, four algorithms of Ant ...

Regularized Linear Regression: A Precise Analysis of the Estimation Error

Non-smooth regularized convex optimization procedures have emerged as a powerful tool to recover structured signals (sparse, low-rank, etc.) from (possibly compressed) noisy linear measurements. We focus on the problem of linear regression and consider a general class of optimization methods that minimize a loss function measuring the misfit of the model to the observations with an added struct...

Statistical Optimization of Liquid Phase Oxidation of Benzyl Alcohol over Efficient Cobalt Promoted Vanadyl Pyrophosphate Catalysts by Box-Behnken Design

Vanadium phosphorus oxides (VPO) has been applied as a heterogeneous catalyst in gas phase oxidation reactions and its application is very limited in liquid phase. In this study a series of cobalt-doped vanadium phosphorus oxides (VPO-Co) catalysts with different loading of Co (0.01-1.0 mol ratio of Co/V) were prepared. Oxidation of benzyl alcohol was studied in the liquid phase over VPO and VP...

Improvement of Biomass Estimation in Forest Areas based on Polarimetric Parameters Optimization of SETHI airborne Data using Particle Swarm Optimization Method

Estimation of forest biomass has received much attention in recent decades. Airborne and spaceborne (SAR) have a great potential to quantify biomass and structural diversity because of its penetration capability. Polarizations are important elements in SAR systems due to sensitivity of them to backscattering mechanisms and can be useful to estimate biomass. Full Polarimetric Synthetic Aperture ...
